Luxury car manufacturer Jaguar has outsourced its social media strategy for the first time to a hired agency.

The Tata-owned brand has appointed We Are Social to handle both its global and UK accounts.

The agency will be responsible for managing the automotive manufacturer's Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as supporting brand activity such as product launches and other social marketing events.
This is a move to continue Jaguar's good work in the social forum, with research by iProspect revealed Jaguar to be the third most engaged-with brand in the UK on Facebook, scoring an engagement level of 12%. They are confident that their hired media agency will help grow the brand into new and emerging markets, as well as sustain the good following they have already built online.

UK-based We Are Social now counts 180 staffers across eight international offices, and clients include high-profile brands such as Heinz, Smirnoff, Adidas, HP and Unilever.

“We Are Social has the global presence we were looking for in a social media agency, and this, combined with their creativity and strategic approach, means they are well placed to answer the needs of our brand," said Jaguar global digital manager Steven Cobelli in a statement. "Since we first started working with We Are Social six months ago we’ve seen some truly impressive results, so we had no hesitation in bringing them on as our retained agency.”

Clementine Hancox, senior account director at We Are Social, said: "Using social media in a relevant and innovative way will build Jaguar’s presence and reputation in the UK and beyond."

The appointment comes after General Motors recently announced it was cutting its Facebook ad spend.
