The Office for National Statistics said the employment level rose to 29.59m, the highest since records began in January-March 1971 and up 212,000 from March to May.

According to the Daily Telegraph:

The figures also showed that unemployment fell more than expected, to 7.9% from 8.1%. The number of Britons claiming unemployment also fell unexpectedly, falling by 4,000 in September since the month before to 1.57m, the third consecutive monthly fall and the lowest total since July 2011.

Minister for Employment Mark Hoban said: "It's a real landmark to see more people in work than ever before.
"Despite the tough economic times, the private sector continues to create jobs and our welfare reforms are encouraging people to return to work - with 170,000 fewer people on the main out-of-work benefits than in May 2010.

With UK inflation also in recent decline, British businesses are growing in confidence with their hiring strategies and new opportunities are opening every day. For a range of options in the digital market, get in touch with Chrysalis  on 0161 833 3874, or email info@chrysalisrecruitment.com.
