A survey from recruitment software provider Bullhorn has detailed the top five reasons why recruiters reject job applications straight off the bat.

This Hallowe'en-themed infographic on the left (nice work, Bullhorn) highlights the key reasons that recruiters ignore your application - with some surprising findings!


  • 30% of recruiters reject candidates applying for jobs for which they are obviously not qualified
  • 21% of recruiters similarly reject those exaggerating qualifications
  • 15% dislike an candidate focusing on salary as the most important aspect of a job
     
  • 13% reject those responding to a job posting requiring far more experience than the applicant has acquired
     
  • 11% hate to be nagged - contacting more than once per week for updates is not good.

With these key hints in mind, perhaps candidates can give themselves a better chance of pleasing these irritable recruiters and progressing to the next stage of the job application!
