The month of May has got off to a tricky start for marketing agency Dare as two of their major clients Sainsbury's and Tetley have called for an advertising review - with Dare declining to pitch the latter.

According to Campaign magazine, Sainsbury's want to build their own team of agencies to refocus their online strategy, which Dare, holder of the account since 2010, will be a part of - though their role will be reduced.

A statement from the retailer read:

"Since we appointed Dare, the digital landscape has diversified and our digital needs have grown. We need to respond to this by drawing on a wider resource base. Dare continues to be a valued agency partner and will take its place on the digital campaign roster without any need to take part in a selection process."

Similarly, Tata Global Beverages which owns Tetley tea, has put its creative business up for review via a six-way competition. Three agencies at the next stage will then be invited to pitch. Per Campaign magazine the incumbent Dare, who have run the account since 2011 having inherited it from MCBD, were invited to compete in the process but have declined.
