The minimal growth of 1% for June represents a significant fall from the 6% enjoyed in 2011, though their are positive signs of life in other sectors.
The big success stories of the UK in June included the Public sector (up 24%), Engineering, Hospitality and Tourism, transport and administration. Struggling British industries included Manufacturing, Management and Consulting, Banking and Finance, Marketing and Media and Arts, Entertainment and Sport (down 11%).

"The marked reduction in online recruitment recorded in June's Index is
unsurprising considering the current uncertainty of the wider economy," said Alan Townsend, Vice President of Sales Readiness and Business
Operations for Monster Europe.
"However, while recruitment demand is generally
muted, over a third of industries continue to report annual growth, with a
variety of opportunities across sectors including architectural,
telecommunication and education."
For insight into the UK sectors, Julian Acquari, Managing Director of Monster UK & Ireland, said:
“Despite some stagnation in the economy, not all is bad in the UK’s labour market – we’ve retained the same level of online job demand as this time last year and have seen significant growth across many professional industries including transport, hospitality, engineering and the public sector.
“Undoubtedly this growth has been counter-balanced by lower demand in banking, marketing and consulting so the overall picture remains flat but steady. However, with other key indicators such as consumer confidence and business climate remaining positive, we would hope to see this spur growth in the job market moving forwards.”
