Available to paid members from today, the professional network's search tool has undergone a substantial upgrade to help differentiate and pinpoint more exact 'streamlined' results from the near six billion daily searches.

On a post on the LinkedIn blog, Johnathon Podemsky wrote:

"We’ve unified the search experience so you no longer need to search for people, companies, or jobs separately. No two professionals are alike on LinkedIn. This means even if you search for the same thing as someone else, your results will be customized to you. LinkedIn’s search efforts are founded on the ability to take into account who you are, who you know, and what your network is doing to help you find what you’re looking for."

The site, which boasts over 200 million members, have added a suggestions feature, as well as automated alerts to inform you when your saved results change - creating a more effective experience for recruiters and job-hunters.

According to Search Engine Land's blog: "LinkedIn is upgrading back-end functions with the roll-out of a smarter query intent algorithm that learns and understands a user’s intent over time, serving up more relevant results with every search performed."

The latest version of search is rolling out to all paid members today; free users will receive the service over the coming weeks.
