Digital Communications company Telefonica have compiled a detailed report into the hotbeds of tech start-ups across the world to determined which geographic area is most fertile and why - whether due to governmental policies, funding and employer attitudes.
This inaugural report concluded that London was the seventh-best global location for a start-up and the top site in Europe; though the UK capital is not without funding problems. Mayor of London Boris Johnson lauded the report, saying that it “cements London’s position as the high tech start-up capital of Europe”.
"London has burst onto the scene and has become the most successful Startup Ecosystem in Europe, producing the largest output of startups in the European Union by far, but its output is still 63% lower than Silicon Valley. London looks to be well positioned for continued growth as the leading Startup Ecosystem in Europe, and first choice for fast growing US startups to establish their European headquarters."
