Reed's job index has revealed its latest employment figures, bearing positive signs that the market is gradually improving.

Reed.co.uk’s index
is calculated by jobs posted on the site, which were up 7.4% in June compared to the June of 2011. The sectors showing the strongest growth in new vacancies were motoring and automotive (79%), health and medicine (66%) and social care (61%). As for regions, Northern Ireland and the Midlands showed the most significant increases.

Martin Warnes, Managing Director of Reed.co.uk said: “Following two months of encouraging figures, we can say with some confidence that the UK jobs market is in a significantly healthier position than it was this time last year.”

Chrysalis Account Manager Harriet Sanders was equally enthused.

"Despite the bite of the recession in many sectors, the area of digital has remained strong - we are very lucky. The figures from Reed don't lie - whilst many sectors are still struggling, there are tangible signs of growth that give hope to all industries. The increase in job postings reflect confidence from hiring employers, and that confidence will help the market to recover."
