Mobile network Orange are hoping to build on their UEFA Euro 2012 sponsorship packages with a larger deal at the next competition - at Euro 2016 in France.

According to Marketing Week:
Euro 2012 marks Orange’s first pan-European sports sponsorship and has seen the company providing fixed and wireless telecommunications services within Poland to support UEFA’s worldwide coverage of the tournament. At the same time, Poland’s biggest fixed-line network provider TP re-branded to Orange, further boosting the brand’s visibility in the region.
Orange are keen on furthering their interests with the football competition following their success with the official UEFA Euro 2012 mobile app, which had in-built media content streaming and ways for fans find friends nearby and navigate the stadia in Poland and Ukraine, gaining over two million downloads.

Orange Group’s head of global sponsorships and partnerships John Constantinou professed Orange's enthusiasm to be involved in the next tournament.

“Hopefully it’s not just about the highest bidder [for Euro 2016], it’s about activating sponsorship in the most engaging way. There’s lots of learnings and knowledge to transfer from the Polish business to France and there will be a lot of evolution in technology between now and then - like NFC, M2M, 3D TV - so hopefully UEFA as a partner would want to work with us to bring a lot this innovation.”
